On the hunt to find a stunning 20 gallon acrylic aquarium to house your little slice of nature?
You’ve come to the right place.
This gem may be EXACTLY what you are looking for…
What is the Best 20 Gal Acrylic Fish Tank on the Market?
After comparing all the 20 gallon acrylic fish tanks on the market:
My pick has GOT to be the beautiful SeaClear 20 gallon aquarium.
Here’s the rectangular:
Beautiful, functional, well-made…
… And of course, acrylic.
It’s also the best price for the quality of all the other acrylic 20 gal tanks you can find.
The lowest price on the market is available for this tank on Amazon.
And the best part?
It even comes with free shipping straight to your door!

- Crystal clear viewing – acrylic is brighter than standard glass tanks
- Salt or freshwater safe – choose whatever kind of fish you want to keep
- Leak and shatterproof – perfect for houses with small children, large dogs, earthquake-prone areas and more.
- Acrylic scratches more easily than glass, though scratches can be buffed out with a plastic polish kit
- Standard black light hood fixture has no bulb and most buyers feel it is best replaced with a nicer unit (I got a full spectrum NICREW that can grow plants instead)
- If you want a lid to cover the top, you might do as I did and consider getting a sheet of glass or plexiglass cut for the top (usually under or around $20 at most hardware stores).
All things considered:
The SeaClear rectangular 20 gallon aquarium combo is the hands-down winner, and is the best price for the value and quality you would be getting.
The price of the tank alone is more than a fantastic deal, and the potentially throwaway light fixture can be looked at as sort of a bonus.
Oh, and here is the classy “Deluxe hexagon” style:
It’s the ideal space-saving design…
… And 100% clear viewing from all angles.
Now it’s no longer difficult to find a place to put your 20 gallon aquarium!
It’s 15 x 15 x 24.”
Why Choose an Acrylic Aquarium?
Take it from me:
Glass tanks have their perks…
… Until you have 20 gallons of water leaking out of the seam and all over your carpet.
Or when you need to move the tank because some water got underneath it between the bottom and the stand or you’re changing jobs and don’t have 3 able-bodied strong men at your beck and call willing to perform such a feat.
But it gets better when a baseball thrown by some rambunctious kids lands smack square into the front of the aquarium.
Unless, you have an earthquake hit your area.
(Yeah, doesn’t get much better than that.)
Okay so if you haven’t gathered it by now, acrylic is leak proof, lightweight, shatter resistant, strong and durable – far more than glass.
The seams of the tank are… oh, wait, sorry…
There aren’t any.
This gorgeous 20 gallon acrylic fish tank is cast out of one solid piece of acrylic, unlike glass which has to be siliconed together to hold the pieces in place and prevent (hopefully) leaks.
Peace of mind?
There’s truly nothing quite like waking up at 3:00am with water all over the floor and fish in danger (or worse).
So to not have that worry is a giant weight off your mind.
Did I mention your fish and plants will also look better in a 20 gallon acrylic aquarium than in a regular one?
Acrylic is clearer than glass.
Regular glass has little particles of iron in it that noticeably dim the view of your tank’s inhabitants.
This is only a small part of what makes these tanks so stunning and crisp.
For me, there’s an even better perk:
There, I said it.
Do you ever get sick of that dark black trim around the top and bottom of regular fish tanks?
I feel like it closes things in more and totally distracts from what people should be looking at, which is not what’s around the tank itself…
… But what’s inside it.
It just makes the space the aquarium is in seem less heavy and intrusive, and more like what it should be:
A window into a beautiful underwater world.
What’s So Special About 20 Gallons?
I’ll admit it:
A 20 gallon aquarium is really a great size.
It gives you more room than a little 10 gallon tank, giving you more flexibility in terms of its inhabitants.
But it’s not too big and overwhelming for most rooms.
Several larger species of fish can be comfortable, or many littler ones – whatever you choose.
It’s your tank and your rules.
As an added bonus:
More water volume can also help you go longer between water changes.
Why SeaClear’s Line of Acrylic Fish Tanks?
I’ll be perfectly honestly with you:
I’m totally in love with my SeaClear aquariums, which I’ve had for several years.
They make such a beautiful showpiece in the room and everyone who sees them compliments them.
I really admire how the manufacturer put such effort into making these tanks fishkeeper friendly.
The lip that encircles the top of the tank helps to prevent spills and makes a perfect resting place for your arm while you are working or interacting with your aquarium.
And they put this wonderful gap at the back to accommodate your filtration and heater if need be.
They come with a limited lifetime warranty so you can feel confident in your purchase.
To wrap it all up:
The SeaClear 20 gallon acrylic aquarium has got to be a winner, both in terms of form and functionality.
So if you’re looking for a smashing acrylic tank, I’d recommend taking the plunge.
I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
Right now the prices on these tanks have been reduced by almost half since last year, so if you’re considering getting one you may want to act fast.
(I bought my most recent one last year when the cost was so much more than what it is now.)
